2026-03 March & April Newsletter

We must help the child to act for himself, will for himself, think for himself; this is the art of those who aspire to serve the spirit.”

Lost and Found

Please visit the lost and found tables in the main hallway outside the gym between March 18 and 20.  Any remaining items will be donated to charity or the MMEC Clothing Line.

Please remember to clearly label all of your children’s personal items.

Personal Belongings & Toys

Please remind your children that toys and other personal items should stay home. Toys and other entertainment items are distracting, make others feel left out, and easily get lost, broken, or misplaced.

Student Safety & Jaywalking

We understand that drop-offs and pick-ups can be crowded around the perimeter of the school. Elementary classes start at 8:30 am and end at 3:30 pm, so we anticipate the children being ready for pick-up by 3:35 pm. Guides wait outside with the children for about 5 minutes so feel free to arrive at MMEC between 3:35 and 3:40 pm. This may ease the congestion a bit as some parents will already be gone.

A child was almost hit by a car when running across the street last week; let’s work together and keep the children safe!

  • Please do not park or stop in “permit only” areas (across the street), even for a quick drop off or pick up.
  • If your child needs to cross the street, please use crosswalks or cross at corners. Please do not allow the children to jaywalk.
  • Sometimes you may need to circle a few times to find a safe spot to pullover for pick up or drop off.

We will also remind the children that jaywalking is dangerous in Calgary. Thanks for your help!

AISCA – Grow the Choice

To start educating the general public on the value of independent schools in Alberta, AISCA has launched the Grow the Choice (www.growthechoice.ca) campaign. This initiative is designed to tell the authentic story of independent schools. Please share the campaign videos with family and friends to help minimize misconceptions about independent education.
