Inclusive School Policy

Maria Montessori Education Centre employs staff, works with families, and enrolls students of any nationality, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available at the school. MMEC affirms the rights of each staff member and all enrolled families/students as provided for in the Alberta Human Rights Act and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Staff, and enrolled families/students will not be discriminated against as provided for in the Alberta Human Rights Act or the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

See our Safe and Caring Learning Environment Policy [PDF].

Admissions are based upon the space available and an evaluation of the suitability of Maria Montessori Education Centre for each student. We do not perform student admissions testing.

It is essential that families have a vested interest, and are supportive of the Montessori philosophy and methodology upon which our school is based. The families, as well as the students, must embrace the values and policies that are integral to the success of the program. Maria Montessori Education Centre will provide opportunities for families to continue to learn and grow in this understanding.
