How the Practice of Self-Regulation Can Benefit the
Children and Adults in Our Montessori Communities

Please join us to learn about the importance of Self-Regulation in this one-day workshop. Dr. Stuart Shanker, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Psychology at York University and the CEO of the Mehrit Centre has developed the process of Shanker Self- Regulation, which is a powerful method to understand and manage stress, tension and energy. This presentation will give you an introduction to Self-Regulation and how we apply it in our own lives and in our Montessori communities.

We will discuss:

  • What is Self-Regulation and why is it important
  • The impacts of stress on children's mood, energy, behaviour and learning
  • What are stressors (including hidden stressors) the 5 domains and the 5 steps of Self-Regulation?
  • What Self-Regulation looks like in a Montessori Environment?
