“Clearly, we have a social duty towards this future man, this man who exists as a silhouette around the child, a duty towards this man of tomorrow. Perhaps a great future leader or a great genius is with us and his power will come from the power of the child he is today. This is the vision which we must have.”

We wish you all a happy new year full of joy, love, and peace!
During the week of January 10th, each family will receive a re-registration package for the 2023/2024 school year. This package will include a Letter of Confirmation and a tuition and payment plan outline. To apply for a sibling, please find applications on our website.
To confirm or register a student, please complete all necessary forms and return them to Catharina as soon as possible and not later than January 26th, 2022. Registration for new families is ongoing, but consideration and acceptance of new applicants will begin after February 1st.
Priority is given to current students and their siblings. However, please understand that we cannot hold your child’s placement beyond January 26th without a signed Letter of Confirmation and an initial non-refundable deposit.
As a school that values keeping tuition accessible and the quality of Montessori education high, you will notice a nominal increase in tuition and fees. By managing overhead and administrative costs, MMEC is able to allocate funds effectively to staff remuneration and well-equipped environments. This translates into staff retention, providing students with security and predictability and an exceptional educational experience.
NOTE: Primary tuition/fees will be adjusted to reflect the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Agreement once we confirm your placement. All registered children are eligible for the affordability grant, and only families who qualify based on income will receive subsidy. To learn more about subsidy requirements, please reference https://www.alberta.ca/federal-provincial-child-care-agreement.aspx.
Thank you for your continued commitment to and support of MMEC!

Punctual Arrivals at School
Thank you to all of the families who make punctual school arrivals a priority! When parents ensure an on- time start to the school day children learn the value of punctuality which will assist them later in their post secondary school studies, work life, and personal relationships.
MMEC Dress Code
Please be reminded that children must adhere to the MMEC Dress Code for toddlers to upper elementary and the Erdkinder Dress Code for grades 7-9. The dress code cultivates a sense of self-respect, self-care and reflects the simplicity of a Montessori environment.
Please ensure that your child’s clothing is clean, well-fitting and in good repair. Thank you for helping us create a culture of respect for ourselves, others and our environment. Dress code guidelines can be found on pages 23-25 in our Family Handbook or the MMEC website. The Erdkinder Dress Code can be found in our Erdkinder Handbook Addendum on the Family Website. Please note that hoodies and sweatpants/joggers are not part of the MMEC dress code.
Tax Receipts
Tax receipts will be prepared for families in the primary and after/before programs.
Community Support at MMEC
MMEC offers a variety of support to families and children in our MMEC community. While our core service is Montessori education, we offer specialized community support like speech therapy, psychology, learning support, and occupational therapy. These programs fill quickly and spaces are given to students with significant needs as determined by parents, teachers, school administration, and specialists. We will begin to determine services for 2022-23 in the next 2-3 months. If you have questions about availability for other school funded services or wish to get some advice, please feel free to reach out; we are here for you.
