Important COVID Update
Education Minister Adrianna LeGrange has announced that Alberta Education students will be on winter break for an additional week, until January 10, to allow schools time to plan for schooling during the Omicron COVID wave. This does not impact our casa and toddler children.
- All elementary and erdkinder students will remain at home until January 10.
- Our kindergarten children are part of our licensed program cohort; as such, they can return to MMEC for their usual program hours from January 4-7.
- All toddlers and 3&4-year-old children will continue their programs and hours as usual from January 4-7.
- Before and After Care will continue to operate for these younger children from January 4-7.

Daily COVID Screening
Please continue your diligence in monitoring symptoms daily and keeping children who are unwell at home. See pages 2&3 for COVID symptoms in children.
If you have access to rapid tests, please test your child as close to their return to school as possible. Alberta education will provide tests and masks to K-12 students and staff in the coming weeks.
Registration 2022/2023
During the week of January 4th, each family will receive a re-registration package for the 2022/2023 school year. This package will include a Letter of Confirmation and a tuition and payment plan outline. To apply for a sibling, please find applications on our website.
To confirm or register a student, please complete all necessary forms and return them to Catharina as soon as possible and not later than January 27th, 2022. Registration for new families is ongoing, but consideration and acceptance of new applicants will begin after February 1st.
Priority is given to current students and their siblings. However, please understand that we cannot hold your child’s placement beyond January 27th without a signed Letter of Confirmation and initial non-refundable deposit. Please see the following tuition and fee schedule and note that tuition and fees have slightly increased this year to meet the demands of MMEC’s increasing costs.
As per the email sent to primary families on December 21, 2021, MMEC will participate in the Alberta Early Learning and Childcare Agreement and tuition fees will be adjusted accordingly. Further information on how we will implement this program for the 2022/2023 school year will be released the week of January 4th.

Reminders
- Please ensure that your child’s indoor shoes are either plain black or navy. Decals or sports emblems/logos are not permitted. Shoes should be well-fitted.
- Kindly ensure that your child is prepared for winter weather as all full-day children play outside every day (snow pants, jackets, mitts, hats, scarves, warm boots, etc.)
- Kindly label all your child’s personal belongings with their first name and last initial. Mabel’s Labels is a great option for all ages.
- Please ensure that your child’s clothing follows the MMEC Dress Code. Clothing should be clean, well maintained and properly fitted. Please see below:
| Tops | Plain, solid white or navy tops. This can be in golf shirts, polo shirts, turtle necks, dress shirts, or blouses with long or short sleeves. All shirts, except turtle necks, must have collars. | |

Tax Receipts
Tax receipts will be issued this month for students registered in programs under our Care License. This includes toddler (half and full day), the afternoon portion of the full-time 3 and 4-year-old program, and before/after school care.
