Extended Care for 3 and 4 Year Olds

We are pleased to offer an on-site Care Program for 3 and 4 year old Casa children to assist families who require afternoon care for their children.

The Extended Care for 3 and 4 year olds is held daily from 11:30 am till 6:00 pm in the Home Environment and serves half day children from the Casa. This environment is separate from the regular classroom and is staffed by qualified adults who meet MMEC and Alberta Family Services requirements. From noon until 3:30 pm all of the children in attendance are between the ages of 3 and 4½ years. The emphasis of the program lies in generating a sense of family and community and dealing with the practical daily needs of children this age: outside play; noon meal; nap; and free choice of work or play. There is a busy but predictable schedule that provides security.

At 3:30 pm, some of the younger children may leave the Home Environment to go home. At the same time, After Care children may join the group. The After Care children have their own staff but at times share activities and space with the 3 and 4 year old Extended Care children.

The Home Environment does not duplicate the regular Montessori classroom. The approach to the child, however, the kinds of activities, and the general expectations, are consistent with what the children experience in their regular classroom.

Program Rates

Extended Care is $5,700 per child, and is in addition to Half Day Casa tuition.

Occasional Care

We will be pleased to assist with Occasional Care needs. We will do our best to accommodate all requests, provided a minimum of 24 hours notice. All of our students are pre-registered for this service. Hourly rates apply.

Sibling Discount

For families with more than one child actively enrolled in the Extended Care for 3 and 4 year olds program, the first child is standard rate, and each additional child receives a $200.00 discount.

Registration forms are included in the Acceptance package. For mid-year enrollment, please contact the school office.

Summer Program

We anticipate starting a summer program in 2010 to accommodate interested MMEC families for full day care for all students over the summer months.
